Benson was a graduate of HK Pui Ching Middle School & University of Toronto with a determined entrepreneurship, he established Greenfield Golf and turned it into a household name for golfers at all levels.
As a recipient of a kidney transplant, Benson repaid more than his fair share by starting involvement at the board level in the Kidney Foundation of Canada. He later found the Chinese Renal Association which was a branch of service enhancement programs supplementing the Kidney Foundation to the local Chinese community. Numerous successful fundraising events have been held for the last 25 years, receiving donations of over $500,000.
Public servicing has always been an imperative mission to Benson. A past President of his Alma Mater, Pui Ching Middle School, Benson dedicated time and effort to hold various reunions and conferences throughout the globe. The Lion Club of Toronto has also benefited from Benson's hard work and inspiration during his engagement for the past 10 years, in particular while he was the President of the club. In the youth development field, Benson established the very first Career Talk Conference for high school students in the local Chinese community. Speakers from prominent local Chinese professionals or businessmen were called to inspire youth in all fields of expertise. Even to this day, many young men and women have all benefited from this event. On the international trading level, Benson also engaged himself with the Taiwan Entrepreneurs Society Taipei/Toronto to strike a trading bridge between Taiwan and Canada. For the past 20 years, many business deals were made partly owing to this association.
Benson’s recognition in public service was epitomized in receiving Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
Benson is a unique member of our community because of his determined entrepreneurship, dedication to public service and defiance against disease.
